In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Saad* By oath of the renowned Qur’an, (Alphabet of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) (1) But nay - they who are bent on denying the truth are lost in [false] pride, and [hence] deeply in the wrong. (2) How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. (3) They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. (4) Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing." (5) The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. (6) “We never heard of this even in Christianity, the latest religion; this is clearly a newly fabricated matter.” (7) “Is the Qur’an which is sent to him, among us?” In fact they are in a doubt concerning My Book; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. (8) Or do they hold the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Great Bestower? (9) Is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, for them? So would they not just ascend using ropes? (10) The army is defeated as (were) the confederates. (11) Before them (were many who) belied Messengers, the people of Nuh (Noah); and 'Ad; and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) the man of stakes (with which he used to punish the people), (12) So also did the people of Thamud, Lot, and the dwellers of the Forest. (13) Not one of them but did deny the messengers, therefor My doom was justified, (14)
