Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Saad, by the Holy Reading (Koran) of the Remembrance. (1) But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility. (2) How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. (3) It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". (4) Does he make all the deities out to be one God? This is indeed a strange thing." (5) And their leaders went about, “Leave him and cling steadfastly to your Gods! Indeed he has a hidden objective in this!” (6) We never heard of this in the former religion. It is nothing but an invention. (7) Hath the reminder been unto him (alone) among us? Nay, but they are in doubt concerning My reminder; nay but they have not yet tasted My doom. (8) Or do they [think that they] own the treasures of thy Sustainer's grace - [the grace] of the Almighty, the Giver of Gifts? (9) Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes! (10) They are only a small band among the defeated confederate tribes. (11) Before them the people of Noah, Ad, and Pharaoh of the tent-pegs gave the lie (to the Messengers) (12) and Thamood, and the people of Lot, and the men of the Thicket - those were the parties; (13) None of them was such that it did not deny the Noble Messengers, therefore My punishment became inevitable. (14)
