Juz 23
S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation! (1) Verily those who disbelieve are in vainglory and schism. (2) How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! (3) It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". (4) “Has he made all the Gods into One God? This is really something very strange!” (5) And the leaders among them went about (saying): "Go on, and remain constant to your aliha (gods)! Verily, This is a thing designed (against you)! (6) “We never heard of this even in Christianity, the latest religion; this is clearly a newly fabricated matter.” (7) Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. (8) Do they have the stores of the mercy of your Lord, the mighty and munificent? (9) Or is it that the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them is theirs? If so, let them ascend up with means (to the heavens)! (10) this host too, among other hosts, is bound to suffer defeat. (11) Before them the people of Noah denied the truth, as did the 'Ad and Pharaoh of the Stakes, (12) And Samood and the people of Lut and the dwellers of the thicket; these were the parties. (13) Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. (14)
