S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad. By the renowned Qur'an, (1) But those who disbelieve are in pride and dissension. (2) How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape. (3) And they were surprised that a Herald of Warning came to them from among themselves; and the disbelievers said, “He is a magician, a great liar!” (4) They say, "Has he condemned all other gods but One? This is certainly strange". (5) Their leaders departed, saying, "Walk away! Hold fast to your deities. This is clearly a conspiracy. (6) We heard not thereof in the later faith; this is naught but an invention. (7) Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. (8) Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? (9) Or, is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that which is in-between the twain? If so, let them ascend by steps. (10) This is just one of the disgraced armies, that will be routed there and then. (11) The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] 'Aad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes, (12) And (the tribe of) Thamud, and the folk of Lot, and the dwellers in the wood: these were the factions. (13) There was none of them but called the apostles liars, so just was My retribution. (14)
