88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an containing reminder... (1) But nay - they who are bent on denying the truth are lost in [false] pride, and [hence] deeply in the wrong. (2) How many a generation have We destroyed before their time [for this very sin]! And [how] they called [unto Us] when it was too late to escape! (3) They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. (4) “Has he made all the Gods into One God? This is really something very strange!” (5) A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. (6) We have not heard of this in later religion. This is naught but an invention. (7) Has the reminder been revealed to him from among us? Nay! they are in doubt as to My reminder. Nay! they have not yet tasted My chastisement! (8) Or do they hold the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Great Bestower? (9) Or, is theirs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? Then let them ascend by (their) means! (10) The army is defeated as (were) the confederates. (11) Before them, the people of Nooh had denied, and the tribe of A’ad, and Firaun who used to crucify. (12) and the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the Wood -- these were the confederates. (13) Each of them who rejected the Messenger become subject to Our punishment. (14)
