S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Saad* By oath of the renowned Qur’an, (Alphabet of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) (1) nay, but the unbelievers glory in their schism. (2) How many generations before them did We destroy? In the end they cried (for mercy)- when there was no longer time for being saved! (3) And they marvel that there should come unto them a warner from among themselves. And the infidels say: this is a magician and a liar! (4) “Has he made all the Gods into One God? This is really something very strange!” (5) The chiefs among them go about, exhorting: Go and be staunch to your gods! Lo! this is a thing designed. (6) We heard not thereof in the later faith; this is naught but an invention. (7) Can it be that he alone has received the Quran?" In fact, they have doubts about My Quran and this is because they have not yet faced (My) torment. (8) Do they have the stores of the mercy of your Lord, the mighty and munificent? (9) Have they control over heavens and earth and whatever [lies] between them? Then let them climb up to heaven by ropes: (10) But there - will be put to flight even a host of confederates. (11) Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. (12) And Thamud, and the people of Lout (Lot), and the dwellers of the wood; such were the confederates. (13) not one [was there] but gave the lie to the apostles - and thereupon My retribution fell due. (14)
