In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Saad, by the Holy Reading (Koran) of the Remembrance. (1) Nay! those who disbelieve are in self-exaltation and opposition. (2) How many ancient generations did We destroy? (On facing Our torment) they cried out for help, but it was too late for them to escape. (3) They were surprised that one of them had come to them as warner; and the unbelievers said: "He is a deceiving sorcerer. (4) Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" (5) And their leaders went about, “Leave him and cling steadfastly to your Gods! Indeed he has a hidden objective in this!” (6) "We never heard (the like) of this among the people of these latter days: this is nothing but a made-up tale!" (7) Was the message sent only to him out of all of us?" In fact, they doubt My warning; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. (8) Or, have they the treasuries of the Mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Giving? (9) Or [that] the dominion over the heavens and the earth and all that is between them is theirs? Why, then, let them try to ascend [to God-like power] by all [conceivable] means! (10) (As they denied Allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated). (11) The people of Nuh and Ad, and Firon, the lord of spikes, rejected (apostles) before them. (12) And Thamud, and the people of Lout (Lot), and the dwellers of the wood; such were the confederates. (13) There was not one of those that did not belie the Messengers. Therefore, My retribution was realized. (14)
