S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
SAD. I CALL to witness the admonishing Qur'an. (1) Nay! those who disbelieve are in self-exaltation and opposition. (2) How many generations have We destroyed before them. They called: 'The time is neither of escape, nor safety' (3) It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". (4) Has he made the gods one single God? This is truly astounding.” (5) And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], "Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended. (6) We never heard of this in the former faith; this is nothing but a forgery: (7) “Is the Qur’an which is sent to him, among us?” In fact they are in a doubt concerning My Book; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. (8) Or have they the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord,- the Exalted in Power, the Grantor of Bounties without measure? (9) Or, is theirs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? Then let them ascend by (their) means! (10) [But] there it is: any and all human beings, however [strongly] leagued together, are bound to suffer defeat [whenever they refuse to accept the truth]. (11) Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. (12) And (the tribe of) Thamud, and the folk of Lot, and the dwellers in the wood: these were the factions. (13) None of them was such that it did not deny the Noble Messengers, therefore My punishment became inevitable. (14)
