Juz 23
S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Sad. I swear by the Quran, which is full of reminders of God, (that you are a Messenger). (1) Nay, but those who disbelieve are in false pride and schism. (2) How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. (3) Now these [people] deem it strange that a warner should have come unto them from their own midst - and [so] the deniers of the truth are saying: "A [mere] spellbinder is he, a liar! (4) Maketh he the gods One God? Verily that is a thing astounding! (5) The chiefs among them go about, exhorting: Go and be staunch to your gods! Lo! this is a thing designed. (6) We have not heard of this in the latest religion. This is not but a fabrication. (7) "Has the Reminder been sent down to him (alone) from among us?" Nay! but they are in doubt about My Reminder (this Quran)! Nay, but they have not tasted (My) Torment! (8) Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower? (9) Or is it that theirs is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend by any (10) [They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers]. (11) Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. (12) and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] (13) Each of them denied the messengers, so My penalty was justified. (14)
