S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Sad. CONSIDER this Qur'an, endowed with all that one ought to remember! (1) nay, but the unbelievers glory in their schism. (2) How many a nation did We destroy before them! (When they approached their doom) they cried out (for deliverance), but the time for deliverance was already past. (3) And they marvel that there should come unto them a warner from among themselves. And the infidels say: this is a magician and a liar! (4) Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing." (5) The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. (6) We have not heard of this in the latest religion. This is not but a fabrication. (7) Hath the reminder been unto him (alone) among us? Nay, but they are in doubt concerning My reminder; nay but they have not yet tasted My doom. (8) Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? (9) Do they own the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? Let them try on their own to block (the ways of heavens so that Our revelations cannot come to you). (10) The army is defeated as (were) the confederates. (11) The people of Noah, Ad and the dominating Pharaoh had rejected Our revelations. (12) and the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the Wood -- these were the confederates. (13) not one, that cried not lies to the Messengers, so My retribution was just. (14)
