S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the Koran, containing the Remembrance -- (1) Nay, those who desbelieve are in false pride and opposition. (2) How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! (3) They marvel now that, from among themselves, a warner has come to them. The unbelievers say: 'This is a lying sorcerer. (4) "Has he made the aliha (gods) (all) into One Ilah (God - Allah). Verily, this is a curious thing!" (5) And their leaders went about, “Leave him and cling steadfastly to your Gods! Indeed he has a hidden objective in this!” (6) Never did we hear of [a claim like] this in any faith of latter days! It is nothing but [a mortal man's] invention! (7) Can it be that he alone has received the Quran?" In fact, they have doubts about My Quran and this is because they have not yet faced (My) torment. (8) Or have they the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord, the All-Mighty, the Real Bestower? (9) Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). (10) [They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers]. (11) The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted, (12) and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] (13) Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, (14)
