S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the renowned Qur'an, (1) But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility. (2) How many a generation have We destroyed before their time [for this very sin]! And [how] they called [unto Us] when it was too late to escape! (3) And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. And the disbelievers say, "This is a magician and a liar. (4) Does he claim that all the deities are [but] one God? Verily, a most strange thing is this!" (5) And the leader among them go away (impatiently), (saying), "Walk ye away, and remain constant to your gods! For this is truly a thing designed (against you)! (6) We heard not thereof in the later faith; this is naught but an invention. (7) What! Upon him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed from on high?" Nay, but it is My Own reminder that they distrust! Nay, they have not yet tasted the suffering which I do impose! (8) Or do they hold the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Great Bestower? (9) Or is it that theirs is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend by any (10) They will be one more army vanquished among the many routed hordes. (11) The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] 'Aad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes, (12) And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. (13) None of them was such that it did not deny the Noble Messengers, therefore My punishment became inevitable. (14)
