Juz 23
S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! (1) Verily those who disbelieve are in vainglory and schism. (2) How many generations before them did We destroy? In the end they cried (for mercy)- when there was no longer time for being saved! (3) They are surprised that a warner should come to them from among themselves. They say, "This is a magician, a great liar. (4) “Has he made all the Gods into One God? This is really something very strange!” (5) And the chief persons of them break forth, saying: Go and steadily adhere to your gods; this is most surely a thing sought after. (6) We have not heard of this in the latest religion. This is not but a fabrication. (7) Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. (8) Or do they have the depositories of the mercy of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the Bestower? (9) Or is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend through [any] ways of access. (10) This is just one of the disgraced armies, that will be routed there and then. (11) Before them the people of Noah denied the truth, as did the 'Ad and Pharaoh of the Stakes, (12) and the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the Wood -- these were the confederates. (13) None of them was such that it did not deny the Noble Messengers, therefore My punishment became inevitable. (14)
