Juz 23
S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition. (1) Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. (2) How many generations have We destroyed before them. They called: 'The time is neither of escape, nor safety' (3) It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". (4) They say, "Has he condemned all other gods but One? This is certainly strange". (5) A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. (6) We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. (7) To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! (8) Or do they hold the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Great Bestower? (9) Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes! (10) A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. (11) Before them the people of Noah denied the truth, as did the 'Ad and Pharaoh of the Stakes, (12) And (the tribe of) Thamud, and the folk of Lot, and the dwellers in the wood: these were the factions. (13) Each of them denied the messengers, so My penalty was justified. (14)
