Juz 23
S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an containing reminder... (1) Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility. (2) How many a generation We have destroyed before them, and they cried out when there was no longer time for escape! (3) And they were surprised that a Herald of Warning came to them from among themselves; and the disbelievers said, “He is a magician, a great liar!” (4) What! makes he the gods a single Allah? A strange thing is this, to be sure! (5) And the chief persons of them break forth, saying: Go and steadily adhere to your gods; this is most surely a thing sought after. (6) We have not heard of this in later religion. This is naught but an invention. (7) “Is the Qur’an which is sent to him, among us?” In fact they are in a doubt concerning My Book; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. (8) Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your, (Muhammad's), Lord, the Majestic and Munificent God? (9) Do they own the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? Let them try on their own to block (the ways of heavens so that Our revelations cannot come to you). (10) this host too, among other hosts, is bound to suffer defeat. (11) The people of Nuh and Ad, and Firon, the lord of spikes, rejected (apostles) before them. (12) And Samood and the people of Lut and the dwellers of the thicket; these were the parties. (13) Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. (14)
