Juz 23
S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Sad. I swear by the Quran, which is full of reminders of God, (that you are a Messenger). (1) Nay, but those who disbelieve are in false pride and schism. (2) How many generations We have destroyed before them! And they cried out when it was too late to escape. (3) And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. And the disbelievers say, "This is a magician and a liar. (4) Maketh he the gods One Allah? Lo! that is an astounding thing. (5) And the chief persons of them break forth, saying: Go and steadily adhere to your gods; this is most surely a thing sought after. (6) We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. (7) Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?" Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment. (8) Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? (9) Or is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend through [any] ways of access. (10) This is only a small army out of the several armies that will suffer defeat here. (11) Before them the people of Noah, Ad, and Pharaoh of the tent-pegs gave the lie (to the Messengers) (12) And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. (13) Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. (14)
