S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. (1) But nay - they who are bent on denying the truth are lost in [false] pride, and [hence] deeply in the wrong. (2) How many generations have We destroyed before them. They called: 'The time is neither of escape, nor safety' (3) Now these [people] deem it strange that a warner should have come unto them from their own midst - and [so] the deniers of the truth are saying: "A [mere] spellbinder is he, a liar! (4) "Has he made the gods (all) into one Allah? Truly this is a wonderful thing!" (5) Their leaders departed, saying, "Walk away! Hold fast to your deities. This is clearly a conspiracy. (6) “We never heard of this even in Christianity, the latest religion; this is clearly a newly fabricated matter.” (7) Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. (8) Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? (9) Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). (10) The army is defeated as (were) the confederates. (11) The people of Nuh and Ad, and Firon, the lord of spikes, rejected (apostles) before them. (12) And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. (13) not one, that cried not lies to the Messengers, so My retribution was just. (14)
