S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Saad* By oath of the renowned Qur’an, (Alphabet of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) (1) Nay! those who disbelieve are in self-exaltation and opposition. (2) How many did We destroy before them of the generations, then they cried while the time of escaping had passed away. (3) So they wonder that a Warner has come to them from among themselves! and the Unbelievers say, "This is a sorcerer telling lies! (4) Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" (5) And the leader among them go away (impatiently), (saying), "Walk ye away, and remain constant to your gods! For this is truly a thing designed (against you)! (6) We never heard of this in the former faith; this is nothing but a forgery: (7) Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. (8) Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? (9) Have they control over heavens and earth and whatever [lies] between them? Then let them climb up to heaven by ropes: (10) Here there is a host of the confederates only to be defeated. (11) The people of Nuh and Ad, and Firon, the lord of spikes, rejected (apostles) before them. (12) and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] (13) There was not one of those that did not belie the Messengers. Therefore, My retribution was realized. (14)
