Jonah too was one of the Envoys; (139) He abandoned his people (140) And then they cast lots and he was the one who lost, (141) Then a fish swallowed him, and he was blameworthy. (142) Had he not been one of those who glorify Allah, (143) He would certainly have tarried in its belly to the day when they are raised. (144) ۞ Then We cast him on a bare desert whilst he was sick. (145) And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine. (146) and We sent him forth to a nation of a hundred thousand or more, (147) and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. (148) Now ask thou them: are there for thy Lord daughters and for them sons? (149) Or did We make the angels females, and they witnessed it? (150) No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: (151) "Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars! (152) Hath He chosen daughters above sons? (153) What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? (154) Will you not then mind? (155) Or have ye a clear warrant? (156) Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful! (157) They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. (158) God is too glorious to be described as they describe Him (159) But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. (160) So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship, (161) shall not be able to tempt anyone away from Allah (162) unless it be such as rushes towards the blazing fire [of his own accord]! (163) None of us is there, but has a known station; (164) Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks, (165) Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers). (166) What though they would say, (167) Had we a reminder from those of yore, (168) Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. (169) But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! (170) Our Word had already preceded Our worshipers, the Messengers, (171) that it is certainly they who will be helped; (172) And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. (173) (Muhammad), stay away from them for a while (174) and see, and soon they too shall see. (175) Do they really wish to hasten Our punishment? (176) When it descends into their courtyard, it will be terrible for those who have already been warned. (177) And turn away from them till a time (178) And watch and they shall see (the torment)! (179) Glory be to your Lord: the Lord of Glory is far above what they attribute to Him. (180) And peace be upon all His message-bearers! (181) And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (182)
Almighty Allah's Truth.
