۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship (22) Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; (23) And detain them, for they will be questioned." (24) [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" (25) Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” (26) And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. (27) (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” (28) The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, (29) we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. (30) So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. (31) We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." (32) Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. (33) Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. (34) for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, (35) And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? (36) Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. (37) you shall surely taste the painful punishment, (38) and be rewarded only according to your deeds." (39) Except the chosen creatures of God, (40) For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). (41) Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured (42) In Gardens of Felicity, (43) (Sitting) on couches, face to face, (44) a cup from a spring being passed round to them, (45) White and delicious to the drinkers; (46) No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. (47) And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances (48) As if they were eggs carefully protected. (49) Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. (50) one of them will say, "I had a friend, (51) who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true (52) That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" (53) Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" (54) So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. (55) He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. (56) "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! (57) Is it then that we are not going to die, (58) except for our first death, and are we not chastised? (59) This is certainly the greatest triumph (60) and for the like of this let the workers work. (61) Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum (62) We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. (63) Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. (64) Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. (65) And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. (66) Washing it down with boiling water. (67) Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. (68) Surely they found their fathers going astray, (69) and rushed to follow them. (70) And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; (71) And verily We sent among them warners. (72) Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). (73) Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. (74)
