۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits, and they shall be highly honored, 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 Are we then not to die 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
