۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship (22) Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, (23) And stop them, for they must be questioned. (24) "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" (25) But they, that Day, are in surrender. (26) And some of them will confront the others, (27) (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” (28) [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! (29) We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. (30) So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. (31) Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' (32) And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. (33) Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. (34) Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud (35) and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” (36) No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. (37) You will indeed taste a painful punishment, (38) And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. (39) But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- (40) [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize (41) Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, (42) in gardens of bliss, (43) (Sitting) on couches, face to face, (44) a cup from a spring being passed round to them, (45) White, delicious to the drinkers, (46) No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. (47) And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed (48) like closely guarded pearls. (49) They will go to one another asking each other questions. (50) And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. (51) who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? (52) ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ (53) He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' (54) Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. (55) And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. (56) "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! (57) Are we then not to die (58) "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." (59) Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. (60) For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! (61) Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? (62) We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. (63) Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, (64) Its spathes are like the heads of satans. (65) (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. (66) And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. (67) Then to Hell they will surely be returned. (68) Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; (69) and they are running in their footsteps. (70) Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, (71) And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); (72) Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! (73) Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). (74)
