The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
182 verses, revealed in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by those who draw themselves out in ranks (1) And so are strong in repelling (evil), (2) and those who recite Our revelations, (3) surely, your God is One, (4) Lord of the heavens and of the earth, and all that is between them, and Lord of every point of the sun's risings. (None has the right to be worshipped but Allah). (5) He decked the nearest heavens with ornaments of stars, (6) and to preserve against every rebel Satan; (7) They cannot listen to the higher group (angels) for they are pelted from every side. (8) and driven away to suffer the necessary torment. (9) but if anyone does succeed in snatching a glimpse [of such knowledge,] he is [henceforth] pursued by a piercing flame. (10) Then inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created men from sticky clay. (11) Nay! you wonder while they mock, (12) and when they are admonished, they pay no heed; (13) and whenever they see some sign, they ridicule it, (14) And they say: Lo! this is mere magic; (15) Is it ever possible that after we die and are reduced to dust and (a skeleton of) bones, we will be raised to life? (16) And our forefathers [as well]?" (17) Say thou: "Yea, and ye shall then be humiliated (on account of your evil)." (18) The Day of Judgment will come within a single roar and they will remain gazing at it. (19) They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense." (20) (It will be said): "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny." (21)
