The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
182 verses, revealed in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those who range themselves in rows; (1) by those who reprove severely, (2) and those who recite Our revelations, (3) Most surely your Allah is One: (4) Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything between them; Lord of the Easts. (5) Surely We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment, the stars, (6) and guarded it against all rebellious devils: (7) They cannot listen to the exalted assembly and they are thrown at from every side, (8) driven away, and will suffer eternal punishment. (9) Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness]. (10) So ask them (that is, human beings): “Were they harder to create than the objects We created?” We created them from sticky clay. (11) But you wonder, while they mock, (12) and when they are reminded [of the truth,] they refuse to take it to heart; (13) and whenever they see some sign, they ridicule it, (14) And say, "This is not but obvious magic. (15) When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised (again)? (16) What, and our forefathers, the ancients' (17) Say: "Yea, indeed - and most abject will you then be!" (18) So that is just a single jolt, thereupon they will begin staring. (19) They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense." (20) “This is the Day of Judgement, which you used to deny!” (21)
