The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
182 verses, revealed in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER these [messages] ranged in serried ranks, (1) By the angels driving away. (2) and by the reciters of the Reminder: (3) Indeed your God is surely only One. (4) The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and Lord of the easts. (5) He decked the nearest heavens with ornaments of stars, (6) Protecting them against every wayward devil, (7) So that they are not able to listen to the angels of higher (echelons), and are pelted from all sides (8) They are rejected and theirs is an everlasting punishment; (9) Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness. (10) Then ask them (O Muhammad): Are they stronger as a creation, or those (others) whom we have created? Lo! We created them of plastic clay. (11) Nay, thou marvellest; and they scoff (12) When they are reminded, they do not remember. (13) And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery, (14) and they say, 'This is nothing but manifest sorcery. (15) "When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we (then) verily be resurrected? (16) What, and our forefathers, the ancients' (17) Say, "Yes indeed, and you will be brought low." (18) It shall be but one shout, lo! they shall be staring. (19) They will then say: “Woe for us. This is the Day of Judgement.” (20) [And they will be told:] "This is the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false - the Day] which you were wont to call a lie!" (21)
