Give to them a parable; to the people of the village there came Messengers, (13) When We sent unto them twain, and they denied them both, so We reinforced them with a third, and they said: Lo! we have been sent unto you. (14) They replied, "You are nothing but mortal men like us and the Merciful God has not revealed anything. You are surely lying." (15) They said: Our Lord knows that we are most surely apostles to you. (16) and our duty is no more than to clearly convey the Message.” (17) They rejoined: "We feel you augur ill. If you do not desist, we shall stone you to death, and inflict a grievous punishment on you." (18) They said, "Your evil augury be with you! Is it because you are admonished about the truth? Surely, you are a people transgressing all bounds!" (19) In the meantime a man came running from the far end of the town, saying: “My people, follow the Messengers; (20) "Obey those who ask no reward of you (for themselves), and who have themselves received Guidance. (21) "It would not be reasonable in me if I did not serve Him Who created me, and to Whom ye shall (all) be brought back. (22) Shall I take others besides Him as gods? If the Gracious God should intend me any harm, their intercession will be of no avail, nor can they deliver me. (23) In that case I would surely be in clear error. (24) Messengers, listen to me. I believe in your Lord." (25) It was said (to him): 'Enter Paradise' and he said: 'Would that my people knew (26) That my Lord hath forgiven me, and hath made me of the honoured ones. (27) ۞ And after him, We did not send down any army from heaven against his people, nor did We intend to send down an army. (28) it was but one great blast and they fell down lifeless. (29) Ah the misery of the bondmen! there cometh not unto them an apostle, but him they have been mocking. (30) Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them, which indeed returned not unto them; (31) All of them shall (one day) be gathered before Us. (32)
