Hizb 45
Juz 23
Narrate to them the example of the people of the city when the messengers came to it. (13) When We sent two of them they called them liars; so We sent a third to strengthen them. "We have been sent to you," they said. (14) "You are only men like us," they replied; "Ar-Rahman has not sent down any thing. You are speaking only lies." (15) They said, 'Our Lord knows we are Envoys unto you; (16) And on us is naught but manifest preaching. (17) They rejoined: "We feel you augur ill. If you do not desist, we shall stone you to death, and inflict a grievous punishment on you." (18) (The messengers) said: "The augury is within your own selves. Do you (consider it a bad omen) that you should be warned? You are a people guilty of excess." (19) Then, from the furthest part of the city, a man came running. He said, "My people, follow the messengers. (20) "Obey those who ask no reward of you (for themselves), and who have themselves received Guidance. (21) Why should I not worship Him who has originated me and to whom you shall all be returned? (22) Should I take other than Him [false] deities [while], if the Most Merciful intends for me some adversity, their intercession will not avail me at all, nor can they save me? (23) "I would indeed, if I were to do so, be in manifest Error. (24) Lo! I have believed in your Lord, so hear me! (25) It was said: enter thou the Garden. He said: would that my people knew. (26) That my Lord hath forgiven me, and hath made me of the honoured ones. (27) ۞ After him, We did not send down any hosts from the heaven; We stood in no need to send down any host. (28) There was but a single Blast and suddenly they became silent and still. (29) Ah, the anguish for the bondmen! Never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him! (30) Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them, which will not return to them? (31) All of them shall (one day) be gathered before Us. (32)
