Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Alif-Lam-Mim. (1) THESE ARE MESSAGES of the divine writ, full of wisdom, (2) As guidance and mercy for the doers of good (3) who establish the prayer, pay the obligatory charity, and firmly believe in the Everlasting Life. (4) Such have guidance from their Lord. Such are the successful. (5) And of mankind is he who payeth for mere pastime of discourse, that he may mislead from Allah's way without knowledge, and maketh it the butt of mockery. For such there is a shameful doom. (6) When Our verses are recited before them they turn away haughtily as though they did not hear them, as if a deafness had come into their ears. So give them tidings of a shameful punishment. (7) For those who believe and work righteous deeds, there will be Gardens of Bliss,- (8) To dwell therein. The promise of Allah is true: and He is Exalted in Power, Wise. (9) He created the heavens without pillars you can see, and He cast on the earth firm mountains, lest it shake with you, and He scattered abroad in it all manner of crawling thing. And We sent down out of heaven water, and caused to grow in it of every generous kind. (10) Such is God's creation. Show me now what those (they worship) beside Him have created. Surely the evil-doers are in clear error. (11)
