Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
A. L. M. (1) These are the verses of the sagacious Book, (2) A guidance and a mercy for the doers of goodness, (3) Those who establish the prayer and give the poor-rate and of the Hereafter are convinced. (4) These are on a guidance from their Lord, and these are they who are successful: (5) And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Quran) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire). (6) And when Our signs are recited to such a man he turns away, waxing proud, as though he heard them not, and in his ears were heaviness; so give him good tidings of a painful chastisement. (7) Surely those who believe and do good deeds shall have Gardens of Bliss. (8) They will abide in them for ever. The promise of God is true; and He is all-mighty and all-wise. (9) He [it is who] has created the skies without any supports that you could see, and has placed firm mountains upon the earth, lest it sway with you, and has caused all manner of living creatures to multiply thereon. And We send down water from the skies, and thus We cause every noble kind [of life] to grow on earth. (10) This is the creation of Allah; shew me that which those beside Him have created. Aye! the wrong-doers are in error manifest. (11)
