Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Alif-Lam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) (1) Those are the verses of the Wise Book, (2) A Guide and a Mercy to the Doers of Good,- (3) for those who attend to their prayers and pay the zakat and who have firm faith in the Hereafter: (4) Such have guidance from their Lord. Such are the successful. (5) And of men is he who takes instead frivolous discourse to lead astray from Allah's path without knowledge, and to take it for a mockery; these shall have an abasing chastisement. (6) And when Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride, as if he heard them not, as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful torment. (7) [As against this,] verily, those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds shall have gardens of bliss, (8) therein to dwell forever -- God's promise in truth; and He is the All-mighty, the All-wise. (9) He created the heavens without pillars that you see and cast on the earth firm mountains lest it should shake with you. Upon it He dispersed all manner of crawling thing, and He sent down water from the sky with which He caused to grow in it every generous kind. (10) Such is the Creation of Allah: now show Me what is there that others besides Him have created: nay, but the Transgressors are in manifest error. (11)
