Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Alif-Lam-Mim. (1) These are revelations of the wise Scripture, (2) A guide and a mercy for the Muhsinun (good-doers) (3) Who are constant in devotion, pay the zakat, and are certain of the Hereafter. (4) Those are upon guidance from their Lord; those are the prosperers. (5) And of mankind is he who payeth for mere pastime of discourse, that he may mislead from Allah's way without knowledge, and maketh it the butt of mockery. For such there is a shameful doom. (6) When Our verses are recited to such a person, he arrogantly turns away, as though he had not heard them, or as though there was a deafness in his ears. So announce to him the tidings of a grievous chastisement. (7) The righteously striving believers will enter Paradise (8) to abide therein in accordance with God's true promise: for He alone is almighty, truly wise. (9) He created the skies without a support, as you can see, and placed stabilisers in the earth that you may dwell at ease as it revolves; and dispersed on it all varieties of creatures, and He sent down water from the skies and grew all kinds of splendid things upon it. (10) this is God's creation. Show me then what those besides Him have created! The wrongdoers are in manifest error. (11)
