Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Alif. Lam. Mim. (1) These are Verses of the Wise Book,- (2) a guide and a mercy for those who do good, (3) Those who establish the prayer and give the poor-rate and of the Hereafter are convinced. (4) these are rightly guided by their Lord: and these are the ones who will prosper. (5) And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Quran) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire). (6) When Our revelations are recited to them, they turn back on their heels out of pride as if they did not hear them or their ears had been sealed off. Warn them of the painful torment. (7) Verily, those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, for them are Gardens of delight (Paradise). (8) They shall abide in them forever. This is Allah's promise that shall come true. He is the Most Powerful, the Most Wise. (9) He created the heavens without pillars that you see and cast on the earth firm mountains lest it should shake with you. Upon it He dispersed all manner of crawling thing, and He sent down water from the sky with which He caused to grow in it every generous kind. (10) This is the creation of Allah; shew me that which those beside Him have created. Aye! the wrong-doers are in error manifest. (11)
