Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Alif Lam Mim. (1) These are the verses of the sagacious Book, (2) a guide and a mercy for those who do good, (3) who perform the prayer, and pay the alms, and have sure faith in the Hereafter. (4) These are on a guidance from their Lord, and these are they who are successful: (5) But among men there are some who spend their time in idle diversions only to lead people astray from the path of God, and without knowledge, hold it up to ridicule: for such there is a humiliating punishment in store. (6) Whenever Our messages are conveyed to such a person, he turns away in his arrogance, as though he had not heard them -- as though his ears were sealed: give him, then, the tidings of grievous suffering [in the life to come]. (7) Surely those who believe and do good deeds shall have Gardens of Bliss. (8) Abiding in them; the promise of Allah; (a) true (promise), and He is the Mighty, the Wise. (9) He created the heavens without any supports visible to you, and cast mountains as anchors into the earth so that it may not shake with you, and spread all kinds of beasts in it; and We sent down water from the sky so thereby grew all kinds of refined pairs in it. (10) Allah has created this therefore show me what has been created by those other than Him; in fact the unjust are in open error. (11)
