Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Alif. Lam. Mim. (1) These are revelations of the wise Scripture, (2) A guide and a mercy for the Muhsinun (good-doers) (3) for those who attend to their prayers and pay the zakat and who have firm faith in the Hereafter: (4) It is they who are on true guidance from their Lord, and it is they who shall prosper. (5) And some people buy words of play, in order to mislead from Allah’s path, without knowledge; and to make it an article of mockery; for them is a disgraceful punishment. (6) When Our verses are recited to him, he turns his back in pride, as though he never heard them, and in his ears was heaviness. Give glad tidings to him of a painful punishment! (7) Surely, those who believe and do good works shall enter gardens of bliss, (8) Therein they will be abiders: a true promise of Allah. And He is the Mighty, the Wise. (9) He created the skies without a support, as you can see, and placed stabilisers in the earth that you may dwell at ease as it revolves; and dispersed on it all varieties of creatures, and He sent down water from the skies and grew all kinds of splendid things upon it. (10) This is the creation of Allah. So show Me what those other than Him have created. Rather, the wrongdoers are in clear error. (11)
