Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Alif. Lam. Mim. (1) These are verses of the wise Book. (2) for a guidance and a mercy to the good-doers (3) people who are steadfast in prayer, pay the religious tax, and have firm belief in the life to come. (4) Such are on guidance from their Lord, and such are the successful. (5) But among men there are some who spend their time in idle diversions only to lead people astray from the path of God, and without knowledge, hold it up to ridicule: for such there is a humiliating punishment in store. (6) And when Our verses are recited to him he haughtily turns away as if he did not hear them as if there is deafness in his ears; so give him the glad tidings of a painful punishment. (7) Lo! those who believe and do good works, for them are the gardens of delight, (8) They will abide in them for ever. The promise of God is true; and He is all-mighty and all-wise. (9) He created the heavens without any pillars that ye can see; He set on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with you; and He scattered through it beasts of all kinds. We send down rain from the sky, and produce on the earth every kind of noble creature, in pairs. (10) This is God's creation; now show me what those have created that are apart from Him! Nay, but the evildoers are in manifest error. (11)
