Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
A. L. M. (1) These are verses of the Wise Book. (2) A guidance and a mercy for the well-doers: (3) who establish the prayer, pay the obligatory charity, and firmly believe in the Everlasting Life. (4) These are on (true) guidance from their Lord: and these are the ones who will prosper. (5) But among men there is many a one that prefers a mere play with words [to divine guidance,] so as to lead [those] without knowledge astray from the path of God, and to turn it to ridicule: for such there is shameful suffering in store. (6) And when Our revelations are recited unto him he turneth away in pride as if he heard them not, as if there were a deafness in his ears. So give him tidings of a painful doom. (7) Verily those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be Gardens of Delight. (8) to abide therein in accordance with God's true promise: for He alone is almighty, truly wise. (9) He has created the heavens without pillar as you can see, fixed the mountains on earth so that it may not shake you away, and settled therein all types of living creatures. We have sent down water from the sky and made all kinds of plants grow in gracious pairs. (10) This is the creation of God. Show me what those whom you consider equal to God have created. In fact, the unjust ones are in plain error. (11)
