Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Alif Lam Mim. (1) Those are the signs of the Wise Book (2) A guidance and a mercy for the doers of goodness, (3) who perform the prayer, and pay the alms, and have sure faith in the Hereafter. (4) They are on guidance from their Lord, and will prosper. (5) And of the people is he who buys the amusement of speech to mislead [others] from the way of Allah without knowledge and who takes it in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment. (6) And when Our signs are recited to such a man he turns away, waxing proud, as though he heard them not, and in his ears were heaviness; so give him good tidings of a painful chastisement. (7) Surely those who believe and do good deeds shall have Gardens of Bliss. (8) They will abide in them for ever. The promise of God is true; and He is all-mighty and all-wise. (9) He created the heavens without pillars that you see and cast on the earth firm mountains lest it should shake with you. Upon it He dispersed all manner of crawling thing, and He sent down water from the sky with which He caused to grow in it every generous kind. (10) [All] this is God's creation: show Me, then, what others than He may have created! Nay, but the evildoers are obviously lost in error! (11)
