Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Alif-Lam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) (1) These are the verses of the Book of wisdom. (2) a guide and a mercy for those who do good, (3) who establish the prayer, pay the obligatory charity, and firmly believe in the Everlasting Life. (4) these are rightly guided by their Lord: and these are the ones who will prosper. (5) There are some people who would purchase distracting talk, to lead astray from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and take it in mockery; for those is a humiliating punishment. (6) When Our Signs are rehearsed to such a one, he turns away in arrogance, as if he heard them not, as if there were deafness in both his ears: announce to him a grievous Penalty. (7) Surely those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, there awaits them Gardens of Bliss (8) wherein they will abide forever. That is God's true promise; He is the Mighty, the Wise One. (9) He created the heavens without pillars that you see and cast on the earth firm mountains lest it should shake with you. Upon it He dispersed all manner of crawling thing, and He sent down water from the sky with which He caused to grow in it every generous kind. (10) This is the creation of Allah; shew me that which those beside Him have created. Aye! the wrong-doers are in error manifest. (11)
