Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Alif Lam Mim (1) These are the verses of the Wise Book, (2) As guidance and mercy for the doers of good (3) people who are steadfast in prayer, pay the religious tax, and have firm belief in the life to come. (4) Those are on [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful. (5) But among men there are some who spend their time in idle diversions only to lead people astray from the path of God, and without knowledge, hold it up to ridicule: for such there is a humiliating punishment in store. (6) And when Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride, as if he heard them not, as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful torment. (7) Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them are the Gardens of Pleasure. (8) In which they will abide; it is a true promise of Allah; and only He is the Almighty, the Wise. (9) He created the heavens without pillars that you see and cast on the earth firm mountains lest it should shake with you. Upon it He dispersed all manner of crawling thing, and He sent down water from the sky with which He caused to grow in it every generous kind. (10) This is the creation of God. Show me what those whom you consider equal to God have created. In fact, the unjust ones are in plain error. (11)
