Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Alif Lam Mim (1) These are Verses of the Wise Book (the Quran). (2) A guidance and mercy for the righteous (3) people who are steadfast in prayer, pay the religious tax, and have firm belief in the life to come. (4) Those are guided by their Lord and will surely prosper. (5) But among men there is many a one that prefers a mere play with words [to divine guidance,] so as to lead [those] without knowledge astray from the path of God, and to turn it to ridicule: for such there is shameful suffering in store. (6) And when Our revelations are recited unto him he turneth away in his stiff-neckedness as though he heard them not: as though there was a deafness in his ears. So announce thou unto him a torment afflictive. (7) Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them are the Gardens of Pleasure. (8) They shall abide in them forever. This is Allah's promise that shall come true. He is the Most Powerful, the Most Wise. (9) He has created the heavens without any pillars, that you see and has set on the earth firm mountains, lest it should shake with you. And He has scattered therein moving (living) creatures of all kinds. And We send down water (rain) from the sky, and We cause (plants) of every goodly kind to grow therein. (10) [All] this is God's creation: show Me, then, what others than He may have created! Nay, but the evildoers are obviously lost in error! (11)
