The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
69 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Romans (Al-Room) before The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) (1) Bethink men that they shall be left alone because they say: we believe; and that they shall not be tempted? (2) We had tried those who were before them so that God knew who spoke the truth, and who were liars. (3) Or do they who commit evil deeds imagine that they can escape from Us? What an evil judgement they impose! (4) Whosoever hopeth for the meeting with Allah, then Allah's term is surely coming, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. (5) And whosoever strive, striveth only for himself: verily Allah is Independent of the worlds. (6) And as for those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds, We shall most certainly efface their [previous] bad deeds, and shall most certainly reward them in accordance with the best that they ever did. (7) We have enjoined man to show kindness to his parents. But if they bid you associate with Me something about which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me you shall all return, and I shall tell you about all that you have done. (8) And those who believe and work righteous works - We shall surely cause them to enter among the righteous. (9) Now there is among men many a one who says [of himself and of others like him,] "We do believe in God" - but whenever he is made to suffer in God's cause, he thinks that persecution at the hands of man is as [much to be feared, or even more than,] God's chastisement; whereas, if succour from thy Sustainer comes [to those who truly believe] he is sure to say: "Behold, we have always been with you!" Is not God fully aware of what is in the hearts of all creatures? (10) And surely Allah shall come to know those who believe, and surely He shall come to know the hypocrites. (11) The unbelievers say to the believers, 'Follow our path, and let us carry your offences'; yet they cannot carry anything, even of their own offences; they are truly liars. (12) They will bear their own burdens, and (other) burdens along with their own, and on the Day of Judgments they will be called to account for their falsehoods. (13)
