The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
69 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Romans (Al-Room) before The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim (1) Do people think they will not be tested because they say, "We have faith?" (2) And assuredly We have tempted those who were before them. So Allah will surely know those who are true and He will surely know the liars. (3) Do those who do evil think that they will get the better of Us? How bad is the judgement that they make! (4) Let those who have the desire to be in the presence of God on the Day of Judgment know that their day will certainly be coming. God is All-Hearing and All-Knowing. (5) And whoever strives hard, he strives only for his own soul; most surely Allah is Self-sufficient, above (need of) the worlds. (6) as for those who have faith and do good works, We shall certainly cleanse them of their evil deeds and reward them according to the best of their actions. (7) We have charged the human to be kind to his parents. But if they bid you to associate with Me that which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me you will return, and I shall inform you of all that you have done. (8) And those who believe, and do righteous deeds assuredly We shall admit them among the righteous. (9) Now there is among men many a one who says [of himself and of others like him,] "We do believe in God" - but whenever he is made to suffer in God's cause, he thinks that persecution at the hands of man is as [much to be feared, or even more than,] God's chastisement; whereas, if succour from thy Sustainer comes [to those who truly believe] he is sure to say: "Behold, we have always been with you!" Is not God fully aware of what is in the hearts of all creatures? (10) Verily Allah knoweth those who believe, and verily He knoweth the hypocrites. (11) Those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Follow our way (of religion) and we verily will bear your sins (for you). They cannot bear aught of their sins. Lo! they verily are liars. (12) And they will surely bear their own burdens and some other burdens along with their own; and they will undoubtedly be questioned on the Day of Resurrection concerning what they had fabricated. (13)
