The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
69 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Romans (Al-Room) before The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. (1) Do people think that they will be let go merely by saying: “We believe,” and that they will not be tested, (2) We certainly tried those who have gone before them, so God will certainly distinguish between those who are truthful and those who are lying. (3) Do those who do evil imagine that they will escape Us? How ill they judge! (4) Whoever should hope for the meeting with Allah - indeed, the term decreed by Allah is coming. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing. (5) Hence, whoever strives hard [in God's cause] does so only for his own good: for, verily, God does not stand in need of anything in all the worlds! (6) And those who accepted faith and did good deeds We will indeed relieve their sins and reward them for the best of their deeds. (7) And upon man We ordained kindness towards parents; and if they strive to make you ascribe a partner with Me, about which you do not have any knowledge, then do not obey them; towards Me only is your return and I will tell you what you used to do. (8) And those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will surely admit them among the righteous [into Paradise]. (9) And among men is he who says: We believe in Allah; but when he is persecuted in (the way of) Allah he thinks the persecution of men to be as the chastisement of Allah; and if there come assistance from your Lord, they would most certainly say: Surely we were with you. What! is not Allah the best knower of what is in the breasts of mankind. (10) And Allah most certainly knows those who believe, and as certainly those who are Hypocrites. (11) The unbelievers say to the believers, 'Follow our path, and let us carry your offences'; yet they cannot carry anything, even of their own offences; they are truly liars. (12) And they will surely bear their own burdens and some other burdens along with their own; and they will undoubtedly be questioned on the Day of Resurrection concerning what they had fabricated. (13)
