The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
69 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Romans (Al-Room) before The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif Lam Mim (1) Do the people reckon that they will be left to say 'We believe,' and will not be tried? (2) And certainly We tried those before them, so Allah will certainly know those who are true and He will certainly know the liars. (3) Do the evil-doers think they can escape Us? How terrible is their judgment? (4) He who hopes to meet God (should know) that God's appointed time will surely come. He is all-hearing and all-knowing. (5) And if any strive (with might and main), they do so for their own souls: for Allah is free of all needs from all creation. (6) We shall expiate the sins of the righteously striving believers and shall reward them better than their deeds. (7) We have enjoined on man kindness to parents: but if they (either of them) strive (to force) thee to join with Me (in worship) anything of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not. Ye have (all) to return to me, and I will tell you (the truth) of all that ye did. (8) But as for those who have attained to faith and have done righteous deeds, We shall most certainly cause them to join the righteous [in the hereafter as well]. (9) Now there is among men many a one who says [of himself and of others like him,] "We do believe in God" - but whenever he is made to suffer in God's cause, he thinks that persecution at the hands of man is as [much to be feared, or even more than,] God's chastisement; whereas, if succour from thy Sustainer comes [to those who truly believe] he is sure to say: "Behold, we have always been with you!" Is not God fully aware of what is in the hearts of all creatures? (10) And most certainly Allah will know those who believe and most certainly He will know the hypocrites. (11) The unbelievers say to the believers, 'Follow our path, and let us carry your offences'; yet they cannot carry anything, even of their own offences; they are truly liars. (12) Yet most certainly will they have to bear their own burdens, and other burdens besides their own; and most certainly will they be called to account on Resurrection Day for all their false assertions! (13)
