The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
69 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Romans (Al-Room) before The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. (1) Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, "We believe", and that they will not be tested? (2) We had certainly tried those who lived before them to make sure who were truthful in their faith and who were liars. (3) Do the evil-doers think they can escape Us? How terrible is their judgment? (4) He who hopes to meet God should know that God's appointed hour is sure to come. He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. (5) And whosoever striveth, striveth only for himself, for lo! Allah is altogether Independent of (His) creatures. (6) As for those who believe and do good works, We shall acquit them of their sins, and recompense them with the best for what they were doing. (7) And We have enjoined on man to be good and dutiful to his parents, but if they strive to make you join with Me (in worship) anything (as a partner) of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not. Unto Me is your return, and I shall tell you what you used to do. (8) And those who believe and work righteous deeds,- them shall We admit to the company of the Righteous. (9) Now there is among men many a one who says [of himself and of others like him,] "We do believe in God" - but whenever he is made to suffer in God's cause, he thinks that persecution at the hands of man is as [much to be feared, or even more than,] God's chastisement; whereas, if succour from thy Sustainer comes [to those who truly believe] he is sure to say: "Behold, we have always been with you!" Is not God fully aware of what is in the hearts of all creatures? (10) Most certainly God will mark out those who believe and mark out those who are hypocrites. (11) The unbelievers say to the believers, 'Follow our path, and let us carry your offences'; yet they cannot carry anything, even of their own offences; they are truly liars. (12) They will bear their own burdens, and (other) burdens along with their own, and on the Day of Judgments they will be called to account for their falsehoods. (13)
