The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
69 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Romans (Al-Room) before The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) (1) Do men think they will get away by saying: "We believe," and will not be tried? (2) But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars. (3) Or those who do evil deeds think that they can outstrip Us (i.e. escape Our Punishment)? Evil is that which they judge! (4) He who hopes to meet God should know that God's appointed hour is sure to come. He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. (5) And whoever strives hard, he strives only for his own soul; most surely Allah is Self-sufficient, above (need of) the worlds. (6) And as for those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds, We shall most certainly efface their [previous] bad deeds, and shall most certainly reward them in accordance with the best that they ever did. (7) And We have enjoined on man goodness to his parents, and if they contend with you that you should associate (others) with Me, of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them, to Me is your return, so I will inform you of what you did. (8) We shall admit the righteously striving believers into the company of the pious ones. (9) There are some people who say: 'We believe in Allah' yet when such is hurt in the cause of Allah, he makes the persecution of people as though it were the punishment of Allah. But then if help comes from his Lord, he will say: 'We were with you' Does Allah not know what is in the chests of the worlds (people)? (10) Verily Allah knoweth those who believe, and verily He knoweth the hypocrites. (11) And the disbelievers said to the Muslims, “Follow our path and we will bear your sins”; whereas they will not bear anything from their sins; they are indeed liars. (12) They will bear their own burdens, and (other) burdens along with their own, and on the Day of Judgments they will be called to account for their falsehoods. (13)
