The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
69 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Romans (Al-Room) before The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. (1) Do men fancy that they will be left just upon their declaring, “We believe”, and they will not be tested? (2) We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false. (3) Do the evil-doers think they can escape Us? How terrible is their judgment? (4) Let those who have the desire to be in the presence of God on the Day of Judgment know that their day will certainly be coming. God is All-Hearing and All-Knowing. (5) And whosoever striveth, striveth only for himself, for lo! Allah is altogether Independent of (His) creatures. (6) And as for those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds, We shall most certainly efface their [previous] bad deeds, and shall most certainly reward them in accordance with the best that they ever did. (7) We have enjoined upon man kindness to his parents, but if they exert pressure on you to associate with Me in My Divinity any that you do not know (to be My associate), do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I shall let you know all that you have done. (8) And those who believe and work righteous deeds,- them shall We admit to the company of the Righteous. (9) Now there is among men many a one who says [of himself and of others like him,] "We do believe in God" - but whenever he is made to suffer in God's cause, he thinks that persecution at the hands of man is as [much to be feared, or even more than,] God's chastisement; whereas, if succour from thy Sustainer comes [to those who truly believe] he is sure to say: "Behold, we have always been with you!" Is not God fully aware of what is in the hearts of all creatures? (10) Allah will surely ascertain who are the believers and who are the hypocrites. (11) And those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Follow our way and we will verily bear your sins," never will they bear anything of their sins. Surely, they are liars. (12) They shall bear their own burdens, and other burdens besides. On the Day of Resurrection they shall be questioned about their false assertions. (13)
