The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
69 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Romans (Al-Room) before The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem (1) Do people think that once they say, "We believe," they will be left alone and not be put to the test? (2) Lo! We tested those who were before you. Thus Allah knoweth those who are sincere, and knoweth those who feign. (3) Do the evil-doers think they can escape Us? How terrible is their judgment? (4) He who hopes to meet God (should know) that God's appointed time will surely come. He is all-hearing and all-knowing. (5) And whosoever strive, striveth only for himself: verily Allah is Independent of the worlds. (6) And those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will surely remove from them their misdeeds and will surely reward them according to the best of what they used to do. (7) And We have enjoined on man kindness unto parents. But if the twain strive to make thee associate with Me that of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not. Unto Me is your return, and I shall declare unto you that which ye have been working. (8) We shall admit the righteously striving believers into the company of the pious ones. (9) And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah," but when one [of them] is harmed for [the cause of] Allah, they consider the trial of the people as [if it were] the punishment of Allah. But if victory comes from your Lord, they say, "Indeed, We were with you." Is not Allah most knowing of what is within the breasts of all creatures? (10) And Allah will surely make evident those who believe, and He will surely make evident the hypocrites. (11) And [He is aware, too, that] they who are bent on denying the truth speak [thus, as it were,] to those who have attained to faith: "Follow our way [of life,] and we shall indeed take your sins upon ourselves!" But never could they take upon themselves aught of the sins of those [whom they would thus mislead]: behold, they are liars indeed! (12) And they will surely bear their own burdens and some other burdens along with their own; and they will undoubtedly be questioned on the Day of Resurrection concerning what they had fabricated. (13)
