The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
69 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Romans (Al-Room) before The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) (1) DO MEN THINK that on their [mere] saying, "We have attained to faith", they will be left to themselves, and will not be put to a test? (2) And certainly We tried those before them, so Allah will certainly know those who are true and He will certainly know the liars. (3) Or bethink those who work ill deeds that they shall outstrip Us? Ill do they judge! (4) He who hopes to meet God (should know) that God's appointed time will surely come. He is all-hearing and all-knowing. (5) Whoever strives hard should know that it is for his own good. God is independent of the whole world. (6) Those who believe and do good deeds, We shall cleanse them of their evil deeds and reward them according to the best of their deeds. (7) And We have enjoined upon man goodness to parents. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do. (8) And those who believe and work righteous deeds,- them shall We admit to the company of the Righteous. (9) And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah," but when one [of them] is harmed for [the cause of] Allah, they consider the trial of the people as [if it were] the punishment of Allah. But if victory comes from your Lord, they say, "Indeed, We were with you." Is not Allah most knowing of what is within the breasts of all creatures? (10) And most certainly Allah will know those who believe and most certainly He will know the hypocrites. (11) Those who deny say to those who affirm: "Follow our way; we shall carry the burden of your sins." But they cannot carry the burden of their sins in the least. They are liars indeed. (12) And they will surely bear their own burdens and some other burdens along with their own; and they will undoubtedly be questioned on the Day of Resurrection concerning what they had fabricated. (13)
