The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
69 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Romans (Al-Room) before The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) (1) Do people think that they are left alone by saying: 'We are believers' and will not be tried? (2) We indeed tested those before them so Allah will surely test the truthful, and will surely test the liars. (3) Or bethink those who work ill deeds that they shall outstrip Us? Ill do they judge! (4) Whoso looketh forward to the meeting with Allah (let him know that) Allah's reckoning is surely nigh, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. (5) And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds. (6) as for those who have faith and do good works, We shall certainly cleanse them of their evil deeds and reward them according to the best of their actions. (7) We have enjoined on man kindness to parents; but if they strive to make thee join with Me that of which thou hast no knowledge, then obey them not. Unto Me is your return and I shall tell you what ye used to do. (8) We shall admit the righteously striving believers into the company of the pious ones. (9) Now there is among men many a one who says [of himself and of others like him,] "We do believe in God" - but whenever he is made to suffer in God's cause, he thinks that persecution at the hands of man is as [much to be feared, or even more than,] God's chastisement; whereas, if succour from thy Sustainer comes [to those who truly believe] he is sure to say: "Behold, we have always been with you!" Is not God fully aware of what is in the hearts of all creatures? (10) Allah will surely ascertain who are the believers and who are the hypocrites. (11) The unbelievers say to those who believe: 'Follow our path, and we will carry your sins' Yet they cannot carry even a thing of their sins. They are surely lying. (12) And they will surely bear their own burdens and some other burdens along with their own; and they will undoubtedly be questioned on the Day of Resurrection concerning what they had fabricated. (13)
