The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
69 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Romans (Al-Room) before The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. (1) Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested. (2) We had tried those who were before them so that God knew who spoke the truth, and who were liars. (3) Do those who practise evil think that they will get the better of Us? Evil is their judgment! (4) He who hopes to meet Allah (must know) that the term of Allah is coming. He is the Hearer, the Knower. (5) And whoever strives in Allah's cause, strives only for his own benefit; indeed Allah is Independent of the entire creation. (6) And (as for) those who believe and do good, We will most certainly do away with their evil deeds and We will most certainly reward them the best of what they did. (7) We have enjoined upon man kindness to his parents, but if they exert pressure on you to associate with Me in My Divinity any that you do not know (to be My associate), do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I shall let you know all that you have done. (8) As for those who believed and acted righteously, We shall certainly admit them among the righteous. (9) Some people say, "We have faith in God." But when they face some hardship for His cause, they begin to consider the persecution that they have experienced from people as a torment from God. When your Lord grants you a victory, they say, "We were with you." Does God not know best what is in the hearts of every creature? (10) Verily, Allah knows those who believe, and verily, He knows the hypocrites [i.e. Allah will test the people with good and hard days to discriminate the good from the wicked (although Allah knows all that before putting them to test)]. (11) Those who deny the truth say to the faithful, "Follow our way, and we will bear the burden of your sins." But they will bear none of their sins. They are surely lying. (12) They will bear their own burdens, and (other) burdens along with their own, and on the Day of Judgments they will be called to account for their falsehoods. (13)
