And when he attained his full strength and became firm, We vouchsafed unto him wisdom and knowledge; and thus We reward the well-doers. (14) And he entered the city at a time of unawareness of the inhabitants thereof, and he found therein two men fighting, one being of his own party, and the other of his enemies. And he who was of his party, called him for help against him who was of his enemies. So Musa struck him with his fist, and put an end of him. He said: this is of the work of the Satan, verily he is an enemy, a misleader manifest. (15) He prayed, "Forgive me Lord, for I have sinned against my soul." God forgave him; for He is the Forgiving One, the Merciful. (16) He said, “My Lord! The way You have bestowed favour upon me, so never will I be a supporter of the guilty.” (17) And morning found him in the city, fearing, vigilant, when behold! he who had appealed to him the day before cried out to him for help. Moses said unto him: Lo! thou art indeed a mere hothead. (18) But then as soon as he was about to lay violent hands on the man who was their [common] enemy, the latter exclaimed: "O Moses, dost thou intend to slay me as thou didst slay another man yesterday? Thy sole aim is to become a tyrant in this land, for thou dost not care to be of those who would set things to rights!" (19) And there came a man running, from the farthest end of the city. He said: "O Musa (Moses)! Verily, the chiefs are taking counsel together about you, to kill you, so escape. Truly, I am to you of those who give sincere advice." (20) So he went forth from thence fearing, looking about. He said: my Lord! deliver me from the wrong-doing people. (21)
