In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ta. Sin. Mim. (1) These are the verses of the Book that makes (things) clear. (2) We shall narrate to you the true tidings of Moosa and Firaun, for the people who have faith. (3) Pharaoh behaved arrogantly in the land, and divided the people into groups, seeking to weaken one section, slaying their sons and sparing their daughters, he was one of those who spread corruption, (4) We wished to favour those who were oppressed in the land, and to make them leaders and make them inheritors [of Our bounties], (5) And We should establish them in the earth, and We should let Fir'awn and Haman and their hosts see from them that which they dreaded. (6) And We inspired the mother of Moses, saying: Suckle him and, when thou fearest for him, then cast him into the river and fear not nor grieve. Lo! We shall bring him back unto thee and shall make him (one) of Our messengers. (7) Then the people of Pharaoh picked him up (from the river): (It was intended) that (Moses) should be to them an adversary and a cause of sorrow: for Pharaoh and Haman and (all) their hosts were men of sin. (8) and Pharaoh's wife said, "He will be a joy to the eye for me and you! Do not slay him: he may well be of use to us, or we may adopt him as a son." They did not realize what they were doing. (9) And the heart of the mother of Moses became void, and she would have betrayed him if We had not fortified her heart, that she might be of the believers. (10) She told his sister: "Follow him." So she kept an eye on him from a distance, unbeknown to them. (11) ۞ We had forbidden to him before that he should be suckled by foster mothers, therefore she (Moses' sister) said (to them): 'Shall I direct you to a people of a household who will take charge of him for you and advise him' (12) So We restored him unto his mother that she might be comforted and not grieve, and that she might know that the promise of Allah is true. Yet most of them know not. (13)
