Hizb 39
Juz 20
And We verily sent unto Thamud their brother Salih, saying: Worship Allah. And lo! they (then became two parties quarrelling. (45) Salih said, "My people, why do you commit sins so quickly before doing good? Would that you ask forgiveness from God so that perhaps He will have mercy upon you." (46) They said: "You betoken evil, and those with you." (Saleh) replied: "The evil you presage can only come from God. In reality you are a people under trial (for your own inauspiciousness)." (47) Now in the city there were nine persons who did corruption in the land, and put not things right; (48) They said: swear by God one to another that we shall surely fall upon him and his household by night and thereafter we shall surely say unto his heir; we witnessed not the destruction of his household, and verily we are truthtellers. (49) And they plotted a plot, and We plotted a plot, while they perceived it not. (50) And behold the consequences of their devising! We destroyed them, and their nation altogether. (51) These are their houses in utter ruin, for they did wrong. Verily, in this is indeed an Ayah (a lesson or a sign) for people who know. (52) And We delivered those who believed and were wont to avoid disobeying (Allah). (53) We also sent Lot, and recall when he told his people: "Do you commit shameless acts with your eyes open? (54) Would ye really approach men in your lusts rather than women? Nay, ye are a people (grossly) ignorant! (55) ۞ And the only answer of his people was that they said, 'Expel the folk of Lot from your city; they are men that keep themselves clean!' (56) So We delivered him and his family, except his wife: We ordained her to be one of those who stayed behind, (57) the while We rained a rain [of destruction] upon the others: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail] (58)
